Les Udmurts sont une ethnie de Russie centrale intensément connectés à la nature, qui joue un rôle important dans leur vie quotidienne. Leurs villages sont entourés de forêts de bouleaux. Près de chaque village, il y a un bosquet de bouleaux particulier, auprès duquel ils viennent prier et adorer les esprits.

Ils travaillent dur et sont très hospitaliers. Leurs intérieurs sont très propres, éclatants de couleurs et tapissés de papiers peints représentant la nature. Ils conservent précieusement les rouleaux de papiers peints qui sont trop grands pour être
collés aux murs. Ils sont très fiers de montrer leurs décorations de papiers peints, qui symbolisent pour eux les endroits exotiques et lointains qu’ils ne pourront jamais visiter, excepté dans leurs rêves.
