Discover Roots‘ serie of Artem Humilevskyi
From Saturday April 5 to Saturday May 31, 2025
Opening of the exhibition and visit in the presence of the artist on Saturday April 5 at 5 p.m.
Located right next to the CENTQUATRE-PARIS, in the Bibliothèque Claude Lévi-Strauss, this off-site exhibition features an augmented scenography and never-before-seen images by one of the festival’s artists. This year, discover the Roots series by Artem Humilevskyi.
“I started to develop Roots at the beginning of the invasion. The shared tragedy stirred something in Ukrainians. Each of us, even on the other side of the planet, felt the call from their land, their identity and their freedom. Made in the middle of the war, the series deals with the collective spirit, the strength of roots and that connection between us all. These photographs extend my self-discovery journey, started in my previous series, The Giant. With Roots, I consider the individual as a member of a community, and I offer ways of expressing its identity based on aspects other than belonging to a nation. I create images from the spiritual symbols that fill our collective unconscious and are subtly woven in each of us.” — AH
