What does exactly bring tourists to tropical islands in the middle of nowhere? In 1985, Thomas Egli’s parents spent their honeymoon on Gili Trawangan, a small island in Indonesia. Thirty years later, the lagoon has become a major tourist destination. Thomas Egli conceived a sarcastic installation to present his photo report and show contexts in which environmental, social, economic and political aspects that matter for the local inhabitants have to face the serious consequences of mass tourism.
