Skeletons in the closet

Autriche

2013

“Skeletons in the closet” is a long-term project started by the artist who questions the dark side of museums: that is their “backstage areas”, and in particular the depots, the basements and the storage rooms inaccessible to the public. This series of photographs originates from a personal experience lived by the artist at Museum of Natural History in Vienna through the cellar window: a desk with a table, a computer, some shelves, and an antelope soft toy.” This experience led Klaus Pichler to ask himself, among other things, where are the exhibits stored when they are not exhibited. With the agreement of the Museum management, he was allowed to take pictures that try to answer his questions.
