“When I was two, my father went into the woods with no intention of returning. This project started as in investigation on the traces of a well-kept family secret. While I was examining my parents’ trauma, I found it here, within me. My body had always known. This is no longer a story about a suicide attempt. This is about the impossibility of secrets, of what we share when we hide. It’s a story about a pain inflicted out of love, about the complexity of silence and a boy’s unexplainable sadness. Mum, Dad, it is your trauma, which you have kept wrapped up in innumerable, colourful blankets and which was unknowingly passed on to me in an affectionate embrace.
