German and Beninese, non-binary, lesbian, performing artist in Brussels to be, and so much more… Bissi explores their identity, refuses norms, flirts with boundaries, celebrates contradictions and reinvents themself continually. Through Alter Ego Fantasy, Anouk Durocher makes the portrait of a close friend. Her photographs reveal glimpses of Bissi’ fusion and fluidity, around a line that they trace themself and their creations, poetic writings and ultra contemporary visual world. Together, they document the quest of the self and transcribe the complexity of it, namely around transidentity. This series is also an ode to friendship, this chosen bond that defies the normative and the radical, accompanies us in our deep transformations and helps us to build new ways of being.
Alter Ego Fantasy was created in collaboration with Bissi. The writings and digital montages are Bissi’s works.

About the artist
Born in 1996, Anouk Durocher is a journalist and photographer. She has a Master’s in political science from Brussels, and trained in image work in Paris with the agency VU and Ateliers Varan. Her practice focuses on social margins, intimate stories, bodies and how politics impact them.
