Balancing Acts

France

2024

In the past (nearly) 200 years, photography has become quotidian. At once technology and artistic medium, photography is also implicated in economic, political, and ecological systems at a global scale. Fig Docher contemplates this tension and questions their personal relationship to photography. How can we make the image sweat, crumble the interface?

A composite, Balancing Acts is a video on photography, a co-contamination of citations, a knotted length of film forgotten in a chemical bath – critical metabolism through sampling, mashup, keying, and superposition.
