“Humans, the signs of a declining civilization and an explosive nature. None of these pictures was planned. I call that my diary but it’s a way of lying to myself: these pictures are almost the opposite of my daily life, filled with computers and concrete. The proof that’s something else is possible, an answer to disenchantment through enchantment.”

About the artist

Born in 1979 in Montluçon. After graduating, Clément Val starts a professional life that’s mostly scientific before discovering photography in 2008 during an internship with Claudine Doury. Since then he develops a personal work, looking for balance – and accuracy – between the diary and documentary photography. He lives and works in Nanterre.
