MASSAL Ann

On Love, Violence and the Lack of It

2023

In her series On Love, Violence and the Lack of It, Ann Massal offers a new reading of violence and love, trying not to interlock them into a Manichean duality of good and evil. She captures the tensions, brushes the taught atmosphere with the camera, grabbing onlookers in order to enable them perhaps to put images to what cannot always be verbally expressed. Feeling rather than telling. This is the subject of this photographic journey through the night, the revelation of a personal story that could be that of many others.
