In «New in brief», the work of the artist consists in introducing anonymous people whose hidden secrets he reveals in order to give them a posthumous glory. He has been inspired by Roland Barthes’ «Essais critiques». These actions, unrespectable not to say criminal, give a not very flattering reflection of the latter. In most of the cases, they are often tragic and violent facts of life regarded by the press as information devoid of any interest. Through his productions, Thomas Martin underlines the need for the reader to see and watch the news in brief in the newspaper, even though they only represent a minor part of the revealed information.
