Post-Industrial Stories is a long-term documentary project that examines daily life in Romanian mono-industrial communities. These places, which thrived under communism, have been dramatically impacted by the transition to capitalism. The series depicts the working class, the hero of olden times, now unemployed and adrift.

About the artist
Ioana Cîrlig is a Romanian freelance photographer born in 1987. She studied cinematography and worked as a photojournalist before dedicating herself to her own personal long-term projects. Her work focuses on the relationship between human beings and their environment, as well as the particularities of the Romanian space. She also co-founded the Romanian Center for Documentary Photography.
