CARUANA Natasha

20192020Animator, Masterclass Work-Show-Grow

Natasha Caruana is a London-based artist and educator. Caruana has an MA in Photography from the Royal College of Art, London and is a Senior Lecturer of Photography, University of the Arts London. In 2018 Natasha Caruana set up the organisation Work-Show-Grow, which hosts supportive and collaborative workshops throughout the year. At the heart of the W-S-G ethos is the belief that progressing a creative work doesn’t need to be lonely and competitive. It can be fun and supportive.

Caruana’s art practice combines photography, moving image and installation. Her work begins autobiographically, exploring narratives of love, betrayal and fantasy, underpinned by a performative and playful approach. Her work is created drawing from archives, the Internet and personal accounts. Notable solo presentations include Rencontres D’Arles and Paris Photo, France, and the International Centre of Photography, New York. Her work is held in numerous public and private collections around the world.

Inspiring the next generation of creatives is important to Caruana and since 2016 she has run the NC mentorship scheme, an annual mentorship aimed at women under-represented within the arts. The self-funded scheme supports creative development, confidence, and provides valuable practical knowledge on how to maintain a creative work.
