The Reality Check
Slovakia
2026
This project explores the effects of social conditioning on women, reflecting on the internalised social expectations as a form of manipulation. It examines the desire to become a mother through in-game photography, using the game as a stage for domestic scenarios, revealing the ambivalence of romantic relationships as both sanctuary and trap. Moving between the position of the player vs. the game character, observing how quickly stability can turn into chaos and comfort into a delusion.
The digital weaving highlights the glitch between reality and the dream, personal vs. the imposed. Uncovering how women are taught to dream within the boundaries of expectation. The intangible feeling is materialised into an artefact: a tapestry of self-discovery amidst social roles, representing how the safest of places hide the greatest danger.
