Alltagsfantasie
Poland
2026
For over a decade, through her photographic performances, images created with her muse, and her daughter’s drawings, Joanna Szproch has been building a complex universe in which she frees herself from the Catholic norms. Caught between Slavic romanticism and Prussian rigidity, she has carved out a liminal space of fantasy – a refuge where she explores female sensuality, autonomy, and joy.
Alltagsfantasie reflects the resonance born from introspection, relational mirroring, and creative rebellion. Ordinary acts- play, curiosity, and ritual – become gestures of everyday resistance and imaginative freedom. Originally conceived as a book, the project now unfolds through photography, objects, and the staging of an intimate sanctuary with her daughter.
About the artist
Joanna Szproch is a mother, visual artist, and Polish activist living in Berlin. She works with media that require a lot of time – photography, graphic design, performance, and text – and uses creative rebellion to explore female resistance. Her books, installations, and participatory projects empower women and free the imagination from the male gaze.
