Cooking Potato Stories

Netherlands / Spain / Colombia

2022

What can a potato tell us about ourselves? What connection is there between this vegetable’s history and the construction of some national identities? What unknown narratives does it carry and how do these open up the way for new tales? These questions are the basis of the series Cooking Potato Stories: a multilayered translocal story that follows the routes and roots of the potato, from Latin America to Europe, based on Ana Nuñez Rodriguez’s experience between these two continents. She questions the ideologies, power and subjectivities behind the existing narratives, thus contributing to an ongoing decolonising outlook on history and to the creation of a new collective memory.
