Albania is a nation in transition, a candidate for entry to the European Union. The country is largely unknown however, and has a bad reputation. However, more than any classic documentary theme, it is this spirit, with its mystical impulses, a perfect subject for photography, that the series explores.

About the artist
Gilles is a self-taught photographer who lives and works in Berlin. In 2005, he decided to quit his job to be a full time photographer. His work is centred on Central Europe and Oriental countries.
