POPOVA Yasena

Urban insects

Bulgarie

2016invité

In her “Urban Insects” series, Yasena POPOVA searches for the hidden meaning of existing objects within the urban environment. She photographs them from an unusual perspective, by placing herself at the level of the tarmac. The objects are vehicles, photographed in garages and sites where spare parts are assembled. In order to photograph larger vehicles, the author raises them to the appropriate height using construction cranes. Viewed underneath, the machines look like huge insects. The complex tangle of powertrains resemble the organs of a living creature.
