Just a dream

France

2013

As a Helvetian night road trip, the «Just a dream» installation tells about territories : mentally speaking (fantasies and oniric wandering), and geographicly speaking, on the Rhone valley in Switzerland, little wild west with chalets, factories, hidden military bases, motels and disused petrol stations, in very present nature and wilderness. The scenography on several lines evokes the juxtaposition of the mental worlds. In the same way as in dreams, the elements tend to create shifts, tensions and reversals.

About the artist

Isabelle Blanc was born in 1971 in Paris. She is a photographer and film director. After film studies at the University of Montreal and at the Art School of Lausanne (ECAL), she moved in Paris. She works on narration systems and tries to find photographic ways to portray the juxtaposition of different levels of reality (fantasies, dreams, memories…). She explores the fascination inspired by the night and its exceptional fiction potential. Her short film “Entre frère et soeur” got the Golden Leopard in the Festival of Locarno, Switzerland, in 1996. She exhibited her photographic work in particular in Arles at the Voies-off, at the Maison de la photographie of Toulon, France and at the Musée de l’Elysée in Lausanne, Switzerland.
